As a qualified instructional designer I appreciate the art of creating an informative and inspiring talk.

In my previous life as an organizational development consultant I led workshops, facilitated groups, and delivered engaging presentations to conference audiences around Australia.

These days, from my base in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, I welcome opportunities to speak with small and large groups about matters that inspire, inform or evoke, including: the relationship between psychology and spirituality; grief, loss and bereavement; navigating life transitions; meaning-making; authenticity; and death and dying.

Information about my upcoming and past presentations is provided below.

Concurrent Session: International Death, Grief and Bereavement Conference, June 5-7, 2023, Wisconsin USA

Is death by suicide always and only tragic? Exploring a lived experience that is not yet part of the body of literature on suicide loss, this presentation shares the extraordinary findings of autoethnographic research into Libby's profound and transformative journey toward and beyond her beloved husband’s voluntary death.

Findings invite a critique of cultural assumptions about suicide and illustrate how spiritual beliefs and attributes can ameliorate grief and promote psycho-spiritual growth in the bereaved.

Death is something that all living beings have in common and yet it’s amazing how rarely we talk about it. In Western cultures, especially, the reality of death can seem too much to contemplate.

However, the more we avoid our thoughts and feelings about death, the greater our fear of it can become. When facing our own or a loved one’s mortality we may then find we lack the language, skills or resources to support ourselves or each other during this important time of life.

In this webinar, Libby discusses death as an essential part of life, including:

  • why talking about death is healthy and helpful

  • ways to help deal with death anxiety

  • when and how to have conversations about death
